Let’s face it – every dentist in town is looking for a way to increase their new patient numbers. Depending on the size of your town, that means you are competing with anywhere from 5 – 150 dentists each day for the same patient pool. While most dentists advertise, not every dentist is spending their marketing dollars wisely. Here are 3 tools to help you beat out the competition and increase your new patient numbers this year.
A Mobile Friendly Website
It all starts with an attractive, mobile friendly website.
According to a recent ebook posted by Google, “people are more loyal to their need in the moment than to any particular brand.” For your practice, that means a patient is more loyal to their need – a toothache, for example – then to their primary dentist. When a patient is experiencing pain, all loyalty goes out the window; what becomes important is “who can see me NOW?”
The patient is going to take out their smart phone and Google ‘Emergency Dentist near me’ or “emergency dentist open now.” Without a mobile website, your office may miss out on that emergency appointment. Even though your office may be located 1 mile from the patient and open until midnight, if she can’t find you online – you don’t exist.
Search Engine Optimization – Target New Patients
Maybe you already have a mobile friendly website for the practice – but is it optimized for Emergency Dentist? or Emergency Dental Services? Unfortunately in 2016, unless you put that information on your website or your web listings – you are not going to be visible.
One of our clients, a dentist in Keller TX, requested to be optimized for emergency services in his area. Before this request, it was not a demographic we were targeting for him and he was on page 6 for related searches. After adding related content and optimizing the user experience, he quickly climbed to page 1 of the search.
While targeting emergency patients is not the only strategy to increase your new patient goals, it is just one of the ways, and one of the keywords, you can optimize for to increase your new patient flow. In an article on CDA.org, CDA Practice Advisor Marcela Truxal discusses emergency patients and says “If you can, help that patient, and you will become their dentist for life.”
To round out your web presence, we also suggest adding social media to your marketing plan. Social media can be used in a number of different ways to help your practice meet your new patient goals for the year.
