There’s never been an easier way to find the professionalism and reputation of a dentist than it is now. Patient reviews go a long way towards building the credibility and customer base of your practice. Think about it. When you’re in the market for a new product or local service, where do you go?
About 99% of us use search engines, referrals from friends and family, or online patient reviews.
So how can you get patients to leave your practice some reviews? Below are eight easy-to-implement tips that can help boost your practice’s reputation and increase new patient flow to your office.
1.) Ask them for it! Patients may not know you’re on Yelp or Google Plus and may not look. If you specifically ask them to leave you a review while they are exiting their appointment, you’ll have much better results. While this seems obvious, it’s easy to forget about throughout the day!
2.) Make it available in the office. A good idea is to have a laptop or tablet/iPad available in your office for patients to use right then and there. These reviews can be posted directly to your website.
However, there is a drawback to this method. Review sites like Yelp and Google+ will recognize that all of these reviews are coming from the same IP address in your office and penalize you. You don’t want that! Instead, have them email the testimonial to themselves so they can safely post it when they get home.
3.) Mobile Mobile Mobile! The vast majority of Americans own a smartphone that can access the internet and post a review. If your patient has their smart phone with them, show them where they can fill out a review quickly and easily. As long as they aren’t connected to your WiFi, their reviews to Yelp and Google+ will count!
4.) Social Media. Ask your hundreds of twitter followers and Facebook fans to share their experiences at your office. Provide them with a direct link and don’t forget to thank them for their time and what they mean to the growth of the practice. Don’t forget to put social media icons on your website so they can easily navigate to your pages.
5.) Send an email. You have a large database of emails from past and current customers. Sending them an email asking for their thoughts on their experience in your chair can do a number of things. You’ll receive a number of reviews and may even remind patients that haven’t had an appointment in a while to schedule one.
Don’t send these emails out to too many patients at once, because if Google sees an “unnatural” spike in positive reviews within a short time, it may be flagged as being a spammy. Go for a handful each month.
6.) Put a badge on your website. A picture/badge/link on your sidebar reminds visitors to leave a review or to read past reviews, helping them make the decision that your practice is the correct one to schedule an appointment with.
7.) Post it in your office. Have signs on your counters, windows, and doors. Whether it’s Yelp, Google Places, Demandforce, Angie’s List, and/orany others, let patients know that you are on these websites and encourage them to review you.
8.) Give the best service possible! Nothing makes patients want to leave a great review more than excellent service. With a combination of some or all of the tips above and great service, you’ll watch your online presence get bigger and more reputable.
People naturally want to share their experiences with the world. Show them where they can post them!
